I had to really look at the image to understand what's going on. At first, I thought it was a young lad doing... Smothering to his grandfather. Then, I realized that Tom himself has an eye on your work! Nice stroke of luck there!

That's not like any dog I've seen in my life, but he still looks cute all the same! If I must find two things wrong, then the first thing concerns the shadow below him. It looks way too much like like a silhouette of the drawing mirrored vertically. Personally, I'd tweak it to make it looks more like an actual shadow since what you have is a good start.

As for my second thing, this could just be me, but the placement of the shading and highlights are a little off. I don't think the entire body should normally have that much shading on it and I reckon that a few more places on the body should catch the light. Then again, I'm not that good at shading placement myself, so take this piece of advice with a grain of salt.

Aww! This is a really cute one! The fang adds a little interest by providing a mild contrast to her adorable appearance.

I like the ears and the tail! Also, the lips aren't too bad here. Still, there are only a few styles of lips I actually like, though, so that's just me.

While I like your artwork a lot, I think it's the lips that I don't care for. I personally like how you handled it with Rumiko. Still, all of this is an opinion and doesn't subtract from your art.
